Day 1 – Jaipur – The Pink City

Your grand journey begins in Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, affectionately known worldwide as the "Pink City" due to the distinct terracotta-pink hue of its historic buildings.

Arrival and Exploration of Amber Fort: Upon arriving in the city, your first major stop is the majestic Amber Fort, situated high on a rugged hill overlooking Maota Lake. Built from pale yellow and pink sandstone and white marble, this massive complex showcases a breathtaking blend of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles. Inside, you can wander through the dazzling Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), where walls and ceilings are inlaid with thousands of intricate mirror pieces designed to reflect even a single candle's light across the room.

Discovering the City Palace: Moving toward the heart of the old city, you explore the sprawling City Palace complex. A harmonious blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, it continues to serve as the residence of the titular royal family in a portion of the grounds, while other sections house incredible museums displaying royal costumes, armory, and historical artifacts.

The Iconic Hawa Mahal: No visit to Jaipur is complete without pausing before the extraordinary Hawa Mahal, or the "Palace of Winds." Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this five-story hive-like structure features 953 small windows, known as jharokhas, intricately latticed so the royal women could observe the lively street festivals and daily life below without being seen.

Evening Markets: Conclude your first day by diving straight into the vibrant local bazaars surrounding the old city, where traditional textiles, block-printed fabrics, handmade mojris (footwear), and sparkling silver jewelry beckon shoppers.
