Day 3 Kerala Tour

Day 3 – MUNNAR TO ALLEPPEY

Day 3 – Munnar to Alleppey: Experience the Magical Backwaters of Kerala

Begin your morning surrounded by the refreshing beauty of Munnar. Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the tea-covered hills, where golden sunlight slowly spreads across the valleys, creating a picture-perfect landscape. The fresh mountain air, chirping birds, and peaceful environment make this one of the most memorable mornings of your Kerala journey.

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, check out and begin your drive towards Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha, the backwater capital of Kerala. The journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, passing through beautiful villages, coconut plantations, rivers, and scenic countryside. Along the way, you'll notice Kerala's traditional lifestyle, colorful houses, paddy fields, and local markets.

As you approach Alleppey, the landscape changes dramatically. Instead of mountains, you'll find peaceful canals, shimmering lakes, swaying coconut trees, and traditional wooden boats gently floating on the water. This unique network of backwaters is what makes Alleppey one of the most famous tourist destinations in India.

Upon arrival, check into your traditional Kerala Houseboat, locally known as a Kettuvallam. These beautifully crafted wooden boats offer modern comforts while maintaining traditional Kerala architecture. The houseboat becomes your floating hotel for the day, providing an unforgettable experience.

As the cruise begins, you'll slowly glide through the calm backwaters while enjoying breathtaking views of nature. On both sides of the canals, you'll see lush green paddy fields, coconut groves, small villages, colorful fishing boats, and local people going about their daily lives. Children waving from the riverbanks and fishermen casting their nets create heartwarming scenes that reflect Kerala's simple and peaceful lifestyle.

One of the biggest highlights of the houseboat cruise is the delicious Kerala-style lunch prepared fresh by the onboard chef. Enjoy authentic dishes like steamed rice, sambar, vegetable thoran, fish curry, fried fish, pickles, papad, and traditional Kerala desserts while cruising through the tranquil waters.

After lunch, relax on the open deck and admire the breathtaking scenery. The peaceful sound of flowing water, cool breeze, and endless greenery create a calming atmosphere that helps you completely unwind.

During the cruise, you'll also pass small islands, narrow canals, ancient churches, temples, and local markets located along the waterways. Every turn offers another beautiful view worth capturing with your camera.

In the evening, the houseboat anchors at a peaceful location. Watching the sunset over the backwaters is truly magical as the golden rays reflect beautifully on the calm water, creating unforgettable memories.

As darkness falls, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner onboard featuring traditional Kerala cuisine. The peaceful surroundings, gentle movement of the boat, and star-filled sky create a romantic and relaxing atmosphere perfect for couples, families, and nature lovers alike.

Spend the night on the houseboat, enjoying one of Kerala's most unique travel experiences. Sleeping on the calm backwaters, surrounded by nature, is something you'll remember for years to come.

On the next day, you'll continue your exciting Kerala adventure with a journey to Thekkady, famous for its wildlife sanctuary, spice plantations, and unforgettable jungle experiences.
